Cape Institute of English:
Welcome to training! This is an opportunity to learn and progress, and get recognition for all that you already know and all that you are about to learn. It is an exciting time and we hope that you make the most of the opportunity given to you.
There are many different ways of learning. The learning that you will be doing is based on a system called “National Qualification Framework” (NQF). In 1994 it was decided by the Department of Labour and the Department of Education that formal education (such as universities) where not accessible to all. Due to apartheid a large number of people had been unable to access further education. To address this problem, the NQF, was developed.
The NQF is an extremely practical way of getting an education. All those large courses have been broken down into very small sections. These small sections can be completed at your own pace and even while you are still working. This means that there is no reason to not get an education. These small courses will be even easier for you to complete because you may already be working in the area in which you have chosen to further your studies.
